  • Limited Echocardiograms

Please see at this link a memo from Dr. Richard Chazal, Medical Director for the Heart & Vascular Institute and Dr. Mikki Lake, Medical Director of Cardiac Non Invasive Testing, reminding us that an echocardiogram requires prolonged, up-close contact between the echo tech and the patient. This results in an increased risk to our staff.

    ·       All elective echocardiograms should be postponed.

    ·       Hospital echocardiograms should only be requested if absolutely necessary, not for evaluation/surveillance of a stable situation (e.g. heart murmur in absence of heart failure or infection, hypertensive heart disease, palpitations, syncope history without high suspicion of structural heart disease).

    ·       Important, necessary echocardiograms on patients under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 should be delayed (if this can be done safely) until testing returns.

    Physician-to-Physician Hotline

We set up the Physician-to-Physician Hotline for the convenience of Medical Staff physicians and providers seeking information about the coronavirus or COVID-19.  This number is to be used only for physicians and providers and to not be shared as to not tie up the phone line. We appreciate your support in this matter.

    Mobile Collection Sites Data

The mobile collection sites at Lee Convenient Care on Cleveland Avenue and at the Cape Coral Sports Complex continue to operate efficiently. Yesterday we collected 125 specimens between the two sites, and have 169 appointments scheduled for today. Instructions for Medical Staff to refer patients for specimen collection are available at this link.
